A 150-year-old German-Jewish tobacco merchant family that has quietly supplied leaf to the world's most respected cigar houses for generations. In 2019, fifth-generation Roy Meerapfel launched the family's own cigar line — built from private reserves of rare, extensively aged tobaccos the family had set aside for decades. Meerapfel cigars are made in tiny quantities for collectors and connoisseurs.
The Meerapfel family has traded and grown premium tobacco since 1876, building a five-generation reputation among manufacturers as the source for rare wrappers and exceptional aged leaf. For more than a century, their name appeared on the invoices of the world's most respected cigar makers — but never on a band.
That changed when Roy Meerapfel, the fifth generation of the family, drew on the private tobacco reserves the family had stockpiled across decades to launch the Meerapfel cigar brand in 2019. The result is a collection of extremely limited cigars built around tobaccos that simply cannot be replicated — Cameroon, Sumatra, and aged Dominican leaf the family kept aside year after year.
