Before founding Foundation, Nicholas Melillo spent more than a decade leading tobacco operations in Nicaragua for Drew Estate, earning a grower's understanding of the leaf that few blenders can match. In 2015 he opened with El Güegüense, the Wise Man, named for the satirical hero of Nicaragua's oldest folkloric drama.
Produced in Estelí from carefully aged Nicaraguan tobaccos, Foundation built its reputation fast. The Tabernacle and others have landed on the industry's top-cigar lists, prized for depth, balance, and Old-World character.
